Obituary for Dorthie E. Carter
Dorthie Eileen Carter, age 75, of Stoughton, WI, formerly of Beloit, died unexpectedly of a pulmonary embolism on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI. Dorthie was born on August 6, 1941, in Ladysmith, WI, the daughter of Herbert Oakland and Helen Gertrude (Hunt) Carter. She worked as a bank teller, cashier and also held a number of other odd jobs in her life. Dorthie was a breast cancer survivor, but most recently her health had declined and she had become homebound. In her younger years, Dorthie was an avid golfer.
Dorthie is survived by two daughters: Judi (Richard) Schollmeyer of Stoughton and Kelli (Brian) Holmbeck of Sharon, WI; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; her sister, Patricia Carter-Diers of Surprise, AZ; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Dorthie was predeceased by a sister, Judith Carter.
A private family memorial gathering will be held. Hansen Funeral Home, Janesville, is assisting the family.
