Obituary for Frances L. Arner
Frances Lucille Arner, age 98, of Janesville, WI, died Monday, October 24, 2016, at Huntington Place in Janesville. Frances was born September 18, 1918, in Janesville, the daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Mutter) LaFleur. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1936 and married Elmer John Arner at First Christian Church in Janesville on December 24 of the same year. Elmer died August 3, 1984. Frances was a lifelong resident of Janesville Township, a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Rock River Community Club and the National Wildlife Turkey Federation. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and loved gardening and being outdoors.
Frances is survived by three children: Richard (Dianne) Arner; Alan Arner, both of Janesville; Christine Sassman of Lubbock, TX; eight grandchildren: Todd Arner, Lynda (Joe) Arnold, Damon (Beth) Jacobson, Mary (Andrew) Lang, Wanda (Jim) Ferguson, Julie (Jeff) Roll, Jeff Rabl, Teresa (Todd) Lambert; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Elmer, Frances was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Steve Sassman; two granddaughters, Lora Phillips and Lisa Shannon; four sisters: Katherine, Aurora, Elizabeth and Helen; and her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph (Eleanor) LaFleur.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2016, at ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Parker Drive, Janesville, with Reverend Bond Haldeman officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park, Janesville. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.
