Obituary for George D. Smith
George D. Smith, age 76, of Orfordville, WI, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. He was born on February 26, 1937, in Evansville, WI, the son of Herman and Helen (Miller) Smith. George married Janice Denman in 1981 in Rockford, Illinois. He was employed as a welder for Dorsey Trailer for many years and he also worked at Northern Conveyor. George was a very loving husband and father and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. George also enjoyed air shows and was a member of the Yankee Air Force. He was always there for his family and will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Smith; three children: Dale Denman of Nekoosa, WI; Dianna Denman and Dan Denman, both of Janesville; four grandchildren: Justin, Ryan and Will Denman, and Andrew Sletten; and a sister, Deetta Amdahl of Oregon, WI. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his brother, Glen.
A graveside committal service will be held at 12 p.m. Noon on Friday, September 20, 2013, at Orfordville Lutheran Cemetery, with Pastor Mary Froiland officiating. There is no visitation. Hansen Funeral Home, Janesville, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be made at www.hansenfh.com .
