Obituary for LaFern "Fern" Gleichauf
LaFern "Fern" Gleichauf, age 79, of Janesville, WI, died Friday, August 29, 2014, at Agrace Hospice and Palliative Care in Janesville. Fern was born January 29, 1935, in Darlington, WI, the daughter of Roland and Minnie (Raab) Benson. She married Robert Leo Gleichauf on January 29, 1955, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mineral Point, WI. Bob preceded Fern in death on March 2, 2003. Fern was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and enjoyed sewing, reading and baking bread. Fern loved her husband, kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include eight sons: Tom (Carol) Gleichauf of Dodgeville, WI; Edward Gleichauf of Baraboo, WI; Robert (Joanne) Gleichauf of Clinton, WI; Joseph Gleichauf of Baraboo, WI; James (Stacie) Gleichauf of Bowling Green, KY; Michael Gleichauf of Janesville; Andy (Rhonda) Gleichauf of Beloit, WI; Steven "Wally" Gleichauf of Janesville; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Jeneen) Benson of Darlington; and one sister, Emogine (Roger) Noble of Albany, WI. In addition to her parents and her husband, Bob, Fern was preceded in death by her son, Dennis, on May 20, 1983, and nine brothers and sisters, Ralph, Melvin, Roland, Mary, Helen, Florence, Katherine, Genevieve and Frank.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, 1238 E. Racine St., Janesville, with Fr. Thomas Marr presiding. A memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice, Janesville. Hansen Funeral Home, Janesville, 608-752-8800, is assisting the family.
