Obituary for Marie Eileen Skelly
Marie Eileen (Monaghan) Skelly, age 87, of Janesville, WI, passed on early Saturday morning, August 9, 2014. Marie was born in Janesville on December 19, 1926, the daughter of Leo and Genevieve (Kelly) Monaghan. She graduated from Janesville High School and was employed by Parker Pen until her marriage to James Patrick Skelly on January 31, 1953, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Janesville. He preceded her in death on March 28, 2003. Marie expressed her creative nature through knitting and oil painting and enjoyed reading.
Marie is survived by three children: Maureen Gosda; Stephen (Denise) Skelly, both of Janesville; Nanette (Dennis) Jossart of Wayside, WI; five grandchildren: Erin (Mark) Olver, Danielle (John) Breber, Michael Babcock, Katharine (Dan) Duthie, Kenneth Babcock; five great-grandchildren; niece, nephew, extended family, and brother-in-law, Edward Struebin. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Dolores Struebin, and son-in-law, Steven Gosda.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 313 E. Wall St., Janesville, with Fr. John Hedrick presiding. Visitations will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, Janesville, where a prayer service led by Sr. Ruth Brings will be held at 6:45 p.m., and also from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Janesville. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Nursing Home or Apostolate to the Handicapped (TV Mass).
