Obituary for Michael John Mawhinney
Michael John Mawhinney, age 56, of Janesville, died Friday, June 13, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. Mike was born in Janesville on November 18, 1957, the son of John Francis and Jeanine Marie (Butler) Mawhinney. He had been employed in managing various area restaurants.
Survivors include his daughters: Jennifer (Kurtis Reilly) Mawhinney of Beloit; Kelly (fiance T.J. Lentz) Mawhinney of Janesville; two granddaughters: Kendra Mawhinney and Kadence Reilly; two brothers: Jim Mawhinney of Janesville; Tim Mawhinney of Milwaukee; one sister, Kathy (Paul) Appel of Huntsville, AL; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Chris Mawhinney.
A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Mount Olivet Cemetery Chapel, 1827 N. Washington St., with Fr. Stephen Umhoefer officiating, with burial to follow. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 20, at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, Janesville. Hansen Funeral Home, Janesville, 608-752-8800, is assisting the family.
