Obituary for Nyra Roberta Schleifer
Nyra Roberta Schleifer, age 86, a resident of Rock Haven Nursing Home, died Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville, WI. She was born May 18, 1926, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Oscar and Benidikta (Hokland) Holley. Nyra married Lyle Wilfred Schleifer April 16, 1947, in Minnesota. She was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church in Janesville and worked at Autolite in La Crosse, WI, for 12 years.
Survivors include three children: Michael Schleifer of Coulterville, IL; Steven Schleifer of Santa Rosa, CA; Mary Schleifer of Janesville; four grandchildren; Brian Schleifer, Melissa Wagner, Brad Engebretson and Sheena Van Wagner; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Nyra was predeceased by a son, Bruce Schleifer; two brothers: Horace and James Holley; a sister, Grace Jerdee; and her former husband.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Milton Lawns Memorial Park Chapel, 2200 Milton Ave., Janesville, with Reverend Naomi Garber officiating. Memorial visitation will be from 1:30 until the time of the service at Milton Lawns Chapel. Inurnment will follow. The family is being assisted by Brian Hansen Funeral Service, Janesville.
