Obituary for Patrick Louis "Pat" Fernette
Patrick Louis "Pat" Fernette, age 83, of Janesville, WI, died Friday, August 16, 2013, at Rock Haven Nursing Home in Janesville. Pat was born on December 18, 1929, in Prairie du Chien, WI, the son of Louis Gabriel and Mary Virginia (Ryan) Fernette. He was a US Army Korean War veteran, serving from 1950 to 1959. Pat married Shirley Mae (Bolstad) Schaubroeck on April 12, 1975, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Janesville. Shirley died on May 15, 2003. Pat was employed as a machinist at Beloit Corporation for many years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Kienow-Hilt VFW Post 1621 and the local Machinist Union. In his spare time and retirement, Pat enjoyed woodworking; his handmade furniture graces many homes in the Janesville area.
Survivors include two sons, Mike (Becky) Fernette of Fennimore, WI, Mark (Kris) Fernette of Janesville; two step-children, Lana (Ron) Miller, and Kory Schaubroeck, both of Janesville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dolores (Ray) Benish of Mason City, IA, and Virginia White of Madison, WI. In addition to his parents and his wife, Shirley, Pat was predeceased by two brothers, Mike and Gerald Fernette.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 313 E. Wall St., Janesville, with Fr. Stephen Umhoefer presiding. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday. Entombment will be at Milton Lawns Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by Kienow-Hilt VFW Post 1621. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church. Hansen Funeral Home, Janesville, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be made at www.hansenfh.com
