Obituary for Rachel Margaret Birt
Rachel Margaret Birt, age 101, of Janesville, WI, and formerly of Auckland, New Zealand, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home in Janesville, surrounded by her loving family and the caring staff at St. Elizabeth's. She was born on December 4, 1911, in Whakapara, New Zealand. Rachel will be remembered for her kindheartedness, strength of character and unfailing trust in God.
Rachel is survived by her three children: Benjamin Birt, Ann Toebaas and Patricia Kurey; her eight grandchildren: Clay Bowden, Rachel Teubert, Rachel Halibi, James Walker, Lauren Kurey, Jeremy Birt, Natalie Birt, Josephine Tiverton Brown; and nine great-grandchildren. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Benjamin Birt; and grandchild, Benjamin Walker, who died in infancy.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 409 E. Court St., Janesville. Rachel's final resting place will be in Auckland, New Zealand.
