Obituary for Russell Joseph Bibeau
Russell Joseph Bibeau, age 89, a former resident of Afton, WI, died February 6, 2013, in Champlin, Minnesota. Russ was born September 28, 1923, the son of James and Mabel Bibeau. He grew up in White Bear Lake, MN, and was an altar boy and long-time member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. He married Carol Fish and served in the Army during WWII. Russ received a Bachelor's Degree from Minneapolis School of Art and was a designer, inventor and thinker. He designed and built his parents' home and received several patents for his inventions. Russ spent many years in Wisconsin and had a long career with US Shoe Corp (Freeman Shoe) in Beloit, heading up their display division. He resided in Afton and was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Footville. He was passionate about politics and his country and was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, uncle, nephew, brother and friend.
Russ is survived by three children: Grace (Robert) McNatt, Jean (Roger Hedlund), and Scott (Dona Inman) Bibeau; grandchildren: Nicholle Manz and Mischelle (Kevin) Grabner; great-grandchildren: Andrew, Alex, Essance and Jeremiah; a sister: Delores (David) Bonse; many nieces and nephews and their children; and many special friends he gained throughout his life. In addition to his parents, Russ was predeceased by his wife, Carol; in-laws, Ray and Grace Fish; and his brothers and their wives, Richard (Marguerite Peltier) Bibeau, and Willard (Carol Adrian) Bibeau.
Funeral services were held in February in White Bear Lake, MN, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. A Graveside Committal Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at the Town of Rock Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Afton, WI, with Fr. William Connell officiating. Military Honors will be provided by Kienow-Hilt VFW Post 1621. Hansen Funeral Home, Janesville, is assisting the family with local arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.hansenfh.com
