Obituary for Virginia L. Moore
Virginia Lucy Moore, age 90, of Janesville, WI, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, January 05, 2017. Virginia was born April 10, 1926, in Evansville, WI, the daughter of Joseph Thomas and Lucy Florence (Luther) Hartl. She married Willard Michael Moore on November 8, 1952, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Evansville. Willard preceded her in death on April 4, 2007. Virginia worked at Parker Pen and also with Willard in their tree business and on the farm. She later worked as a secretary with Schwartz & Shea Insurance. She was a member of St. William Catholic Church, Catholic Knights Branch #60, Women of the Moose Lodge #197 and Polka Boosters. Virginia was an organist at St. William's for many years and was an active member of their Home and School organization. She and Willard greatly enjoyed polka music and traveled across the country dancing to their favorite bands.
Survivors include three children: Peter Moore of Janesville, Mary (Mark) Guenther of Nekoosa, WI, Paul Moore of Hopkins, MO; eight grandchildren; one sister and one brother, Donna Johnson of Brodhead, WI, and Eugene (Virgene) Hartl of Stoughton, WI; and her sister-in-law, Shirley Hartl of Waunakee, WI. In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was predeceased by her brother, Carroll Hartl, and brother-in-law, Eric Johnson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at St. William Catholic Church, 456 N. Arch St., Janesville, with Fr. Brian Dulli presiding. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Evansville.
