Obituary for Harvey L. McCarthy
Harvey L. McCarthy, age 88, of Janesville, WI, died Wednesday, Oct 9, 2013, at the VA Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born July 12, 1925, in Wisconsin, the son of William Albert and Mary Anna (Kohlman) McCarthy. Harvey was a Korean War Veteran, former farmer and restaurant owner with his first wife, Frances, who predeceased him in 1997.
Harvey is survived by his wife, Lavon; daughter, Denise Cole; four sons: Dennis (Kathy), Michael, Timothy (Stephanie), and Daniel (Shauna); and 12 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Harvey was predeceased by his first wife, Frances (Schumacher) McCarthy and six siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12 , 2013, at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, Janesville, with Fr. Stephen Umhoefer officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Rock Cemetery, Rock Township, WI, with military honors provided by Kienow-Hilt VFW Post 1621. Memorials in Harvey's name may be made to "Madison VA Hospital", at Wm. S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, Community Relations (135), 2500 Overlook Terrace, Madison, WI, 53705. Hansen Funeral Home, Janesville, is assisting the family.
