Obituary for Charles E. Johnson
Charles Emil Johnson, age 92, of Janesville, WI, died Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Heartwarming House in Janesville. Charles was born on September 19, 1923, in Janesville, the son of Abraham and Elizabeth (Wilson) Johnson. He married Georgene Eleanor Berger in 1945 in Janesville. Charles was a veteran, serving in the Army during WWII. Charles had a strong work ethic and worked at Parker Pen for 40 years, retiring in 1983 as a manager in the molding department. After retirement he continued to stay busy with a variety of activities, including waterskiing at age 60 and sky-diving at age 70. Charles loved to bicycle and rode many miles, including to one of his favorite places to visit, The Gathering Place in Milton. He loved watching football with his buddy, Doug, boating, the Mississippi River, and also watching movies and the Lawrence Welk show.
Charles is survived by his son, Ronald C. Johnson, Cudahy, WI; his daughter, Victoria L. Johnson, Janesville; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Berger of Boise, ID; and also nephews and friends.
A Memorial Celebration of Charles’s life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice, Janesville. The family is being assisted by Hansen Funeral Home, Janesville. Online condolences may be made at www.hansenfh.com
