Obituary for Joan F. Burner
Joan Florita Burner, age 82, of Janesville, WI, died Saturday, June 18, 2016, at home with her family. Joan was born in Janesville on September 29, 1933, the daughter of Harry F. and Grace A. (Sickinger) Kesler. She was a 1952 graduate of Janesville High School. Joan married her childhood sweetheart, Thomas Dale Burner, on February 11, 1961, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Janesville. Tom died May 14, 2007. Joan worked as a registered nurse for many years at Janesville Medical Center and Mercy Clinic East. She loved the color red and cardinals and enjoyed bowling with Tom in their younger years.
Joan is survived by two children: Michael T. Burner of Lake Geneva, WI, and Linda J. (Robert) McBride of Janesville; seven grandchildren: Ryan, Jacob, Adam (Brianna) and Ian (Sabrina) Burner, Jason Klein, David and Tarin McBride; five great-granddaughters; also nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Tom, Joan was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence J. Burner on February 20, 2016, and a sister, Kathlyn Tiegs.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH, 456 N. Arch St., Janesville, with Fr. Brian Dulli presiding. A memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the CHURCH. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Janesville.
