Obituary for Marilyn Joyce Barry
Marilyn Joyce Barry, age 83, of Janesville, Wisconsin, died peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home in Janesville. Marilyn was born on July 28, 1929, in Madison, WI, the daughter of Miles C. and Laona (Kleinsmith) Sweeney. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1947 and attended the University of Wisconsin. Marilyn married James John Barry on December 29, 1951, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Janesville. Marilyn was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed and happily remembered.
Marilyn is survived by her four children: Joyce (Tim) Kelly of Colorado Springs, CO; David (Lori) Barry of Janesville; Mary (Steve) Coaty of Newport, RI; John Barry of Janesville; 12 grandchildren: Shannon (Johan) Dippenaar of Castle Rock, CO; Cullin (Katie) Barry of Burbank, CA; Ryan (Kate) Kelly of Dallas, TX; Katie Kelly of Denver, CO; Brandon Barry of Chicago, IL; Devin Barry of San Francisco, CA; Marlie Barry of Janesville; Katie Coaty of Norfolk, VA; Bailey Barry of Janesville; Jack Coaty, Carly Coaty and Annie Coaty of Newport, RI; and two great grandchildren: Noah and Avery Dippenaar. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents and her brother, Ray Sweeney.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1250 E. Racine St., Janesville, with Fr. Randy Timmerman officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Janesville. Memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Nursing Home, 502 St. Lawrence, Janesville, WI, 53545. It was Marilyn's wish to participate in the University of Wisconsin Medical School Body Donation Program for educational purposes. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home for the loving care of our mother. A special thank you to Sister Marie Lucette for her care and the blessings that she bestowed upon our mother during her time with her. "I like to believe that when we lose someone close to us they still live through us and give us strength. The time we have spent with those we've lost makes them part of us."
