Obituary for Roger M. Johnson
Roger Marion Johnson, age 92, of Janesville, WI, died Sunday, November 13, 2016, at Rock Haven Nursing Home, Janesville. Roger was born in Janesville on December 23, 1923, the son of Alva and Bessie (Torkelson) Johnson. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as a machine gunner in the Pacific Theater at Guadalcanal and the Solomon Islands. Roger was a member of the Contractors Union and worked as a house painter for 32 years.
Roger is survived by his nephew, Jeffrey (Chris) Johnson of Janesville; nieces, D’anne (Howard) Turner, Vicki (Mike) Eckstein and Barbara (Mike) Wixom. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Merklein, and brothers, Arlin Johnson and Don (Betty) Johnson.
A private committal service will be held. Burial will be at Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Hansen Funeral Home, 211 S. Main St., Janesville, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be made at www.hansenfh.com
