Samuel Terrence “Terry” Vetrono, age 71, of Albany, WI, formerly of South Beloit and Beloit, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, WI. Terry was born on January 17, 1945, in Macon, Georgia, the son of Sam John and Zella Mae (Sweger) Vetrono. After the end of WWII, his parents returned to the Stateline area from Fort Benning and the family eventually settled on the Sand Prairie in Rockton Township, Illinois. Terry attended Sand Prairie Grade School and was a 1963 graduate of South Beloit High School. He was a member of the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969, serving in Germany. He married Sandra Marie Martingilio on January 21, 1966. They divorced in 1978. Terry worked at many trades, including tool-making and photography, which he enjoyed most all his life, and most recently was the executive director of Riverview Apartments in Albany. Terry had a deep respect for the earth and nature and enjoyed rustic activities. In his later years, he became a skilled green-wood carver, making his own lathe to work on. Terry loved to travel and visited Europe many times, including Sicily to meet relatives.
Terry is survived by his son, Joel D. Vetrono of Winter Garden, FL; his brother, Jeffery J. Vetrono of South Beloit; his sister, Angela Vetrono Hansen of rural Beloit; the mother of his son, Sandy (Bob) Eggleston; also cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by an infant sister, Janice Lynn, and his brother-in-law, Brian C. Hansen, in February of 2015.
