Obituary for Charlotte V. Gimski
Charlotte V. Gimski, age 93, of Janesville, WI, died Thursday, March 2, 2017, at her home. Charlotte was born on February 7, 1924, in Iron Belt, WI, the daughter of Jacob and Mary (Braya) Hovanec. After meeting the love of her life on the dance floor, she married Vincent P. Gimski on September 11, 1941, in Saxon, WI, and they continued dancing throughout their life together. Due to the closure of the mines in the U.P., Vince and Charlotte relocated their family to Janesville, where Charlotte returned to school, earned a degree and then worked as an administrative assistant in the Janesville Public School System until her retirement. Charlotte enjoyed having a cup of coffee with her friends, spending time with her family and cooking, and was known for her delicious pasties. Charlotte was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Janesville.
Survivors include her daughter, Charlene (John) Teipner of Fort Atkinson, WI; her son, Gordon (Susan) Gimski of Platteville, WI; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Vincent, Charlotte was predeceased by nine siblings.
In accordance with her wishes, a private family gathering to celebrate Charlotte’s life will be held. Interment will be at Milton Lawns Memorial Park in Janesville. Memorials to Charlotte may be made to the Arthritis Foundation of Wisconsin or Agrace HospiceCare. The family is being assisted by Hansen Funeral Home, Janesville.
