Obituary for Barbara J. Reed
Barbara Jeanette Reed, age 99, of Janesville, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Cedar Crest Health Center in Janesville. Barbara was born January 27, 1917, in Janesville, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Ayen) Williams. Barbara married Kermit Howell Reed on June 30, 1938. Kermit died on September 7, 1995. Barbara worked for a short time at Parker Pen Company in the Engraving Department and one of her highlights was engraving Clark Gable’s signature on a Parker Pen. Barbara was a very loving wife, mother and grandma who always enjoyed taking care of her family. Her many favorite recipes will be cooked and enjoyed for years to come! We love you and will miss you, Mom!
Barbara is survived by three children: her son, Thomas H. (JoAnn) Reed of Janesville; two daughters, Nancy C. Bates of Green Bay, WI, and Susan L. (Randy) Borman of Janesville; eight grandchildren: Jason (Sarah) Reed of Beaverton, OR; Tamara Bates and Tara Bates of Green Bay; V. (Biff) Bates of Tennessee; Tracy (Jeff) Zindrick of Pueblo, CO; Marisa (Dan) Daum of Princeton, MN; John (Margo) Borman of Charlottesville, VA; Veronica (Chris) VanHorn of Columbus, OH. She is further survived by thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Kermit, Barbara was predeceased by six siblings and one grandson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at the CEDAR CREST CHAPEL, 1702 S. River Road, Janesville, with Rev. Lee Meissner officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the services at the CHAPEL. Private family burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Janesville. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials to Barbara may be directed to Cedar Crest or a charity of your choice. HANSEN FUNERAL HOME, JANESVILLE, 608-752-8800, is assisting the family.
