Obituary for Kathryn Ann Lockwood
Kathryn Ann Lockwood, age 92, a resident of St. Elizabeth Nursing Home, Janesville, WI, died there on Saturday, November 22, 2014. Kathryn was born October 27, 1922, in the Town of Center, Rock County, WI, the daughter of William Miles and Margaret Mae (McCaslin) McGuire. She was a 1941 graduate of Janesville High School. Kathryn married Lawrence Brooks Lockwood on June 26, 1943, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Footville, WI. Lawrence preceded her in death on July 28, 2005. Kathryn and Lawrence were long-time members of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Janesville.
One of God's great prayer warriors was called home on Saturday, November 22, 2014. Kathryn Ann Lockwood lived a life devoted to others. Although she worked in her high school days as a nanny for Dr. and Mrs. Clark, and had a short employment history at Parker Pen, for the majority of her life she devoted her time to taking care of Lawrence and their seven children. In her older years, she took care of her dad, aunts and uncles, neighbors, grandchildren, assisted the priests and nuns of St. Patrick's parish as needed, and prayed for any and all who needed it. Her prayers and care for others was her trademark in this life. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandma, great-grandma, friend, and woman of faith, and now she is dancing with Lawrence, the love of her life.
Survivors include seven children: Ronald (Donna Lanni) Lockwood, Lawrence (Linda) Lockwood, Kathy (Doug) Kauffman, Vicky (John) Meyers, Linda (Steve) Fisher, Annie (Russ) Lobrano, Patricia (Michael) DeLambo; fifteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret McKay; three brothers: Mike (Marianne) McGuire, L. Pat (Patsie) McGuire and John McGuire. In addition to her parents and her husband, Lawrence, Kathryn was preceded in death by four sisters: Mary McGuire, Elizabeth Weller, Theresa Morgan and Rita Burchard; two brothers: Bill and Tom McGuire; also in-laws: Merna McGuire, Sandra McGuire, Earl Burchard, Dennis Weller, Joe (Esther) Lockwood, Inez Monette and Steven Furgason.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 28, 2014, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 315 Cherry St., Janesville, WI, with Fr. James Kuhn presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services on Friday at the church. Burial will be at Fassett Cemetery in Edgerton, WI. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to St. Patrick's School or St. Elizabeth Nursing Home. Hansen Funeral Home, Janesville, 608-752-8800, is assisting the family.
