Obituary for Leovarda "Lee" Helland
Leovarda "Lee" Helland, age 84, of Milton, WI, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center in Janesville. Lee was born January 23, 1929, in Janesville, WI, the daughter of Francisco and Maria (Guzman) Lopez. She married Herbert Lewis Curtis in 1949. Herbert passed away April 25, 1953. In 1960, she married Robert W. Helland in Janesville. Bob passed March 29, 2012. Lee was a member of the Janesville Congregation of Jehovah's Witness. Lee gave to the community through leadership in Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts of America in the 1960s. She was employed by Panoramic Corp. for several years and Fairview Floral, all the while keeping books for Helland Plumbing. Lee moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, with her son and daughter in 1986. She lived there for twenty years before returning to Janesville.
Survivors include three children: a daughter, Linda (Steve) Helland-Burns, of Roanoke, IN; two sons: Frank (Peg) Curtis of Phoenix, AZ; and Herbert Helland of Manitowish Waters, WI; nine grandchildren: Tavia, Ahbra, Samuel, Josiah, Mirrah, Uriah, Skylar, Michael & Daniel; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Michael (Dianne) Lopez of Goodman, WI. Lee also had a constant feline companion, Fuzzz "Bunnykins". In addition to her husbands, Herbert and Bob, Lee was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters: Nicholas, Raphael, Antonio, Dolores (Kenneth) Hutchison and Esperanza (Dale) Edman.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Noon on Friday, October 4, 2013, at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, Janesville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral chapel on Friday. Burial will be at Milton Lawns Memorial Park, Janesville. Memorials may be made to Rock County Humane Society, 222 S. Arch St., Janesville, WI, 53548. Hansen Funeral Home, Janesville, is assisting the family.
